Alex rider tv show12/18/2023 ![]() ![]() But as he digs deeper, Alex discovers that the students are in fact the subjects of a disturbing plan by the mysterious Doctor Greif - a plan which he will have to risk his life to stop. Isolated far above the snowline in the French Alps, Point Blanc claims to set the troubled teenage children of the ultra-rich back onto the right track. Pressured to help investigate his uncle's death - and how it connects to the assassination of two high-profile billionaires - Alex reluctantly assumes a new identity and goes undercover in a remote boarding school called Point Blanc. He is approached by Alan Blunt, head of a shadowy offshoot of MI6 known as The Department, who reveals that Alex has been unknowingly trained since childhood for the dangerous world of espionage. I watched it with a significant other who had not read the books and she enjoyed it through and through, and thats good enough for me.When Alex Rider learns that his uncle Ian has been killed in the line of duty as a British spy - and not in a car accident like he's been told - everything changes for this otherwise normal teen. Do I think they could have a better job? Maybe, but I am glad that the show is not as bad as it could have been. I do love the show, it has done the world of Alex Rider enough justice despite its limitations. It has enough viewership, and enough passion from the production team to continue making it. Not that it has to be, but its easier to sell a show to someone if the show brings something extremely unique or is very ambitious in its scope.Įven after eveything I have mentioned, the reason the Alex Rider TV show is still screening and filming, because it is in fact, a very solid show. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, the show, while very decent, is just not groundbreaking enough. ![]() Just like there are plenty of great Japanese live-action shows you'll never hear about, Alex Rider TV series is confined to the cultural demographic of viewers willing to watch a British show. ![]() Due to Covid restrictions and the smaller budget, the show cannot properly showcase the international world of Alex Rider outside of its British borders. Geographically, the books of Alex Rider is very international, both in the books and irl. ![]() Only the adult cast are veteran British actors (specifically the MI6 characters), so its their names that carry some weight on the awareness of the show. The teenage cast, while brilliant, are not popular actors compared to other young British actors. I do feel that the Alex Rider TV show is a better adaptation compared to the others, but the Alex Rider books, while relatively well-known, is not the talk of the town, nor is it revered like the Halo games or Cowboy Bebop anime. Plenty of more popular adaptations that are not that good (e.g., Halo TV, Cowboy Bebop), but they are simply a better known franchise. Right now, popular culture is eagle eyed on video game/comic book/anime adaptations. The TV show is known because it is an adaptation of the books. It is neither extremely high in production value ( e.g., Marvel TV shows, the Witcher, Game of Thrones), nor is it raunchy (e.g., Riverdale, Sex Education, Euphoria), nor is it catered for comedy (e.g., Brooklyn 99, IASIP)Īll of this does contribute to the popularity of a show, despite the show catered for teenagers. It is rather antiquated and so, no matter how good the show is, its just not gonna attract as many viewers. Its also not based on a heightened concept like Squid Game. The spy genre is no longer as popular as recent genres, like fantasy and superhero action. So word of mouth is the only effective way to spread awareness of the show. Right now the two biggest platforms are Disney+ and Netflix. It is marketed as an iMDB TV show on Amazon Prime. ![]()
